Fitness for Seniors
How many calories are you burning?
Most of us worked for about a half century, often at strenuous physical labor, looking forward to retirement and some leisure.
Now, they want us to exercise!
What do they think we were doing for 50 years?
Stay off the rocking chair, the recliner and the park bench, they now tell us
Exercise! Move it, they add.
Practically every health research report we see reminds us that we need to exercise to maintain a healthy heart, to avoid diabetes, to keep our minds healthy, to keep our limbs agile, etc. etc. etc.
Sweating and muscle toning was not exactly what some of us had in mind for our twilight years, but there are a lot of fun activities that folks in their 70s can use to burn calories and maintain better health--as long as they don't overdo it and take precautions to avoid injuries, especially back, knee and hip injuries.
